The two Archbold Blue Streaks soccer club boys U-14 teams battled to a 2-2 tie, Tuesday, Oct. 9. The Blue team jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Adrian Ramirez scored in the fifth and 18th minutes, both on powerful shots from beyond the 18-yard box. The Gray team answered in the 29th minute when Caleb Liechty scored from the left side after a pass from Jarett Lerma, producing the 2-1 halftime score.

Sweeper Nathaniel Rodriguez scored the tying goal for the Grays in the 49th minute after dribbling the entire length of the field.

The Gray team hosted Bryan United, Saturday, Oct. 13, looking to avenge a previous loss. The teams played evenly throughout a scoreless first half before Bryan scored in the second minute after halftime to take the lead. With eight minutes remaining, Rodriguez went on another long run from his defensive position, firing a shot that the keeper deflected only to have forward Jacob Ott pound in the rebound to tie the match.

Archbold’s defense, anchored by Nick Cassidy, Alex Hurst, and Nathan Wachtmann, held off Bryan to preserve the 1-1 tie.
