Archbold won at least a share of its seventh straight Northwest Ohio Athletic League boys basketball title, Friday, Feb. 12, with a 53-34 victory at Evergreen.
Archbold (13-6, 7-0 NWOAL) can win the title outright with a victory at Bryan (9-11, 4-3 NWOAL) in its final regular-season game, Friday, Feb. 19.
The struggling Vikings fell to 7-13, 1-6 NWOAL.
“Right now a share of the title is as good as it gets,” said Doug Krauss, AHS head coach.
“We put ourselves in this position. I have to tip my hat to our guys; a lot of people didn’t give us a chance.
“To get number seven is a great, great accomplishment, and I give our kids a lot of credit.”
The Streaks set the tone early, scoring the first 11 points.
The Vikings finally broke into the scoring column at the 3:20 mark of the first quarter on a jumper by Peyton Pawlaczyk.
Archbold answered with seven straight points for an 18-2 lead, and closed out the first eight minutes with a 20-6 advantage.
