The Archbold Area School Board will hold a special meeting Monday night, June 24, to approve a new contract with the Archbold Education Association.
The board approved holding the special meeting at its regular Monday, June 17 meeting.
The AEA is the bargaining unit for district certified staff, most of which are certified teachers.
Aaron Rex, superintendent, said the two sides have negotiated a new master contract which addresses salaries, fringe benefits, and other issues.
The board also will consider the classified employee operations manual.
Typically, classified staff, which includes custodians, bus drivers, etc., receives the same wage hikes (in percentage terms) and benefits as the teachers.
The meeting is 5:30 pm at the high school media center.
The school board met in executive session for about 40 minutes during the meeting.
Stated reason for the closed-door session was to discuss employment, compensation, promotion, or demotion of public employees.
No action resulted from the executive session.
Board members accepted the resignations of four employees during the meeting.
Sarah Tiplady, who had just been transferred from teaching third grade to become the Title I reading teacher, resigned effective May 29.
Also effective on that date is the resignation of Tara Yunker, a third-grade teacher.
Vanessa Carmen, the speech language pathologist, resigned.
The board also accepted the resignation of Gloria Beck, a school bus aide.
The board approved a oneyear contract for Krystina Bowerman as the Spanish teacher. She comes from the Bryan school district.
Maria Oyer was approved as the summer intervention teacher.
Ben Gericke was named a substitute summer intervention teacher.
John Downey, board member, abstained on the vote for Gericke due to a family connection.
Supplemental contracts were approved for Bowerman as junior class advisor; Jen Nagel, student council advisor; Elizabeth Voll, high school band director and middle school jazz and pep band director; and Dorothy Lambert, chairman of the local professional development committee.
Supplemental contracts were approved for Royal Short, Kent Vandock, Jennie Johnson, and Rob Mahnke as members of the LPDC.
Tatum Smith was granted a supplemental contract as junior high school cheerleader advisor.
Janet Wyse, board member, was absent.
The board is considering moving its regular July meeting from the usual third Monday night of the month to Monday, July 22.
A final decision will be made at the June 24 meeting.– David Pugh
