“It is amazing how the community pulls together in cooperation to create a successful auction year after year,” said Julia Nafziger, Fairlawn Auxiliary president.
The annual Fairlawn Auction begins at 5 pm, Friday, March 26 at Founder’s Hall at Sauder Village. Auction items may be previewed Thursday, March 25, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Nafziger has many new members of the Fairlawn Auxiliary board who are enthused about assisting. Plus, experienced board members and volunteers are stepping up to keep the auction tradition going.
New this year is a printed roster of auction items and a master of ceremonies describing the items.
“We are pleased with the donations, and the roster and MC will help bidders decide what they might like to purchase,’ said Steve Ringen- berg, Fairlawn administrator.
In celebration of the 45th auction, a commemorative pottery piece will be paired with some auction items as a bonus.
Ten Thousand Villages is donating 15% of sales from a booth they will host at the two-evening events.
The auction is truly a community event with participation from individuals, local church congregations, businesses, and non-profit organizations.
Nafziger said she feels the generosity of the community makes the auction a success; the auxiliary just provides the format and the community gives.–Nanette Buehrer
