Archbold Police “Educate” Drivers On Park Speed Law

Thom Ross, Archbold Police assistant chief, said he stopped 11 vehicles for speeding on Woodland Drive in a 35-minute period Thursday, Oct. 4.

Ross said Woodland Drive has a posted 15 mile-per-hour speed limit, as do all roads through parks in the village.

“We’ve had some complaints,” about vehicles speeding in the park, Ross said, and all of the vehicles he stopped were far in excess of the 15-mph limit.

“Since this is a new area, we decided to do a little education, as opposed to writing tickets,” he said.

The village speed trailer, which displays a motorist’s speed as they approach, will be set up in the park.

Ross said most of the motorists he stopped said they either weren’t paying attention, or were running late.
