Archbold Picks Up Two Wins



The Archbold boys basketball team took to the road last week and came away with a pair of wins, upping its record to 10-3, 3-1 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.

Archbold traveled to Swanton, Friday, Jan. 22, and dropped the Bulldogs (5- 6, 1-3 NWOAL) 54-34.

Telly Fricke and Luke Kammeyer led the attack, scoring 18 and 16 points, respectively.

Ryan Johnson paced Swanton with 11.

Swanton held a 13-10 lead after the first stanza, but the Bulldogs were no match for the Streaks’ defense the rest of the way.

Archbold allowed Swanton just six points in the second, seven points in the third, and eight points in the final eight minutes.

AHS 44, Napoleon 41

Archbold made the trek to the Grand Canyon, Tuesday, Jan. 19 to face the Wildcats (4-7) in a non-league matchup.

The Blue and Gold used a third-quarter rally and a three-pointer to topple the Wildcats 44-41.

Trailing 33-16 with less than three minutes left in the third, the Streaks went a tear, outscoring their host 16-2 to close the gap to 35-32 to start the fourth.

The excitement didn’t end with the rally. Archbold’s Garrett Morton, who led the Streaks with 12 points, nailed a three-pointer with less than a second left on the clock for a 44-41 lead.

The Wildcats called a timeout, but their shot fell short as time expired.

Sam Miller chipped in 11 points for AHS.

Jordan Lauf paced Napoleon with 19.
