We are always proud of our students and student-athletes, but even more so after the Division III state track and field meet last weekend in Columbus.
Not only should we be proud of them because of how they performed on the track, but how they acted when they didn’t finish first.
Archbold and Pettisville athletes finished second in four events, third in one, fourth in two, and eighth in one. Some competed but didn’t made the podium by finishing in the top eight of their events.
Every single one of the competitors from Archbold and Pettisville were so happy to be competing at the state meet, and all said they just wanted to do their best. Several set school records in the process.
The athletes were smiling after their races, congratulating all the others who finished below and above them. No jealousy; no “woe is me, I didn’t finish first.”
And the members of the relay teams, especially the seniors, talked about how they’ll miss their relay teammates, who are like family.
We’re proud of them for their sportsmanship and positive attitudes. These student-athletes truly represent the best of Archbold and Pettisville.
