Jerry Rohrs and Karlin Wyse, two longtime Archbold Lions Club members, were recently named the first Melvin Jones Fellows in ALC history.
The award is based on club donations to humanitarian needs in communities around the world.
Rohrs and Wyse have been active members for 45 years, and were nominated because of their many community efforts.
Through the level of donations made by the Archbold Lions Club, 167 individuals can have their sight restored.
Lions Club also supports natural disaster relief, supports youth, and programs to improve health.
The Melvin Jones Fellowship, established in 1973, is the backbone of the Lions Club International Foundation, providing 75% of its revenue.
The club has made contributions to LCIF for many years, and because of the donations Rohrs and Wyse were recognized for their years of service and helping to raise those funds donated.
