Archbold Man Sentenced




Mathew DeWitt, 32, Archbold, was sentenced to five years of community control in Fulton County Common Pleas Court, Thursday, May 11.

DeWitt was originally indicted on March 20 on one count of theft and ten counts of forgery. He entered guilty pleas to theft and two forgery counts.

In a press release, Scott Haselman, Fulton County prosecuting attorney, said between Sept. 2-Oct. 6, 2016, he stole blank checks and forged them.

In addition to five years of community control, DeWitt was ordered to have no contact with the victim, complete the SEARCH program, and complete the drug court program.

If he fails to comply with the conditions of his sentence, DeWitt could spend 12 months in prison on each count. The terms would be served concurrently, for a total prison term of 36 months.
