An Archbold man has been arrested on a murder warrant from Lewis County, W.Va., Tera Rogers, an Archbold police officer, said Friday morning, Sept. 20.
Arrested was David Hughes, 58, who has a Fairlawn Apartments address.
Rodgers said Archbold police, along with officers from Wauseon and deputies from the Fulton County Sheriff Department, took Hughes into custody at about 12:20 am, Thursday, Sept. 19. Hughes was arrested without incident, Rogers said.
Information from the WOWK television station (Charleston-Huntington, W.Va.) website states Hughes was charged with two counts each of first degree murder, kidnapping, and robbery in connection with the disappearance of two West Virginia women.
Hughes is one of three men arrested in the case. One of those men is the son, and grandson, of the women, who went missing Dec. 1, 1999. The younger woman’s car was found five days later.
In 2002, a fisherman found a purse belonging to one of the women.
One of the other men, Charles Steven Freeman, no address available, is also being held at CCNO.
Extradition proceedings are pending.-Posted 9.20, 12:05 pm
