Archbold withstood a fourth-quarter rally by Perrysburg to bring home a 47-43 non-league girls basketball victory, Wednesday, Dec. 27.

The Streaks led 14-11 after one, 30-19 at the half, and 39-27 after three. The previously undefeated Yellow Jackets (7-1) outscored AHS 16-8 in the final eight minutes but just fell short.

“I’m proud how we competed against a very good team today,” said Brian Ziegler, AHS head coach.

“We did a nice job defensively putting pressure on their guards and also did a nice job taking Ashlynn Brown (who is 6-feet-2, was First Team All-Northern Lakes League and averaged 13.4 points per game last year), out of the game.

“We built a lead and did a nice job holding our composure at the end when Perrysburg increased its pressure.

“Kamryn Hostetler and Brooke Kohler hit some big free throws.”

The Streaks won the rebounding battle 26-20, and were led by Lily Krieger, with 10.

Turnovers were relatively even. Archbold committed 17 and Perrysburg had 16.

Both teams made nine free throws and two three-pointers. The Streaks sank two more deuces for the difference.

Emie Peterson and Hostetler led AHS with 13 points each. Andi Peterson was also in double figures, with 10.

Perrysburg’s Whitney Thames led all scorers, with 16 points.
