Archbold Girls Basketball Returns 9 Letterwinners

The Archbold girls basketball team welcomes back nine letterwinners for Kevin “Scoop” Miller, head coach, when the Streaks open the season, Saturday, Nov. 17 at Edgerton.

Miller in his ninth year at the helm of the Blue and Gold. He has compiled a 160-56 record and looks to improve on his 11-11 record last season. The Streaks finished 4-4 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.

The Streaks lost top scorer Lex Kennedy (13.2 points per game) to graduation, as well as Leah Lehman and Tara Gustwiller.

But AHS returns senior letterwinners Kenzie Frank, Adi Lange, Dani Newman, Bri Wyse and Laura Wyse.

Newman and Lange return as the squad’s top scorers, averaging 7.8 and 8.7 points per game, respectively. Newman also returns as the leading rebounder, with 116, and had 82 assists.

Rounding out the returnees are sophomores Andrea Allan, Hailey Galvin, Devin Newman and Stacy Wyse,

“This year’s team has excellent depth, but we need to play aggressively and physically to be competitive,” said Miller. “We have good team speed and an experienced group of seniors. Their leadership will be a key to our success.

“A lot of our success will be determined by how hard and how well we play defensively. We need to use our speed, aggressiveness, and depth to pressure teams and make things happen.

“The entire area is filled with solid basketball teams, so it should be an interesting season to be a part of.”

Assisting Miller in coaching duties are Char Sharp and Shawn Ramirez.
