Archbold Beats Swanton To Win Sectional Title

Top-seeded Archbold (15- 1-2) defeated Swanton 4-1 to win a Division II sectional girls soccer championship at Otsego, Saturday, Oct. 23.

Lauren Kindinger scored two goals while Cassidy Wyse and Mindy Rupp each scored one.

The Streaks defeated Toledo Christian 6-0 in a sectional semifinal, Tuesday, Oct. 19.

The Blue Streaks controlled the field from the beginning of the game.

Jesse Fidler scored first on a cross from Alicia Drewes. Minutes later, Rupp made a cross to Fidler, who scored her second goal.

Drewes had a breakaway, dribbled through the defense and scored for a 3-0 lead. Kindinger made a shot outside the 18-yard line to up the score to 4-0.

The second half was more challenging for Archbold. Kindinger scored on an outside shot for a 5-0 lead. Drewes ended the scoring for a 6-0 victory.

District

The Streaks play Wauseon (17-1-1) in a district semifi- nal, today, Wednesday, 4:45 p.m., at Otsego. The Indians, who were seeded second in the Otsego sectional, were 8- 1 winners over Delta in their sectional final.

When Archbold played Wauseon in the regular sea- son, the game ended with the teams tied at one goal each.

The winner advances to play either Genoa (11-3-1) or Lake (17-1-1) in the district final at Lake High School, Saturday, Oct. 30, 2 p.m.
