Archbold Baseball Wins Five, Loses Two In Busy Week

Archbold got in a full week of baseball last week, winning five games and dropping two to non-league opponents.

The Streaks picked up Northwest Ohio Athletic League wins over Liberty Center, Delta, and Evergreen, and dropped nonleague contests to Stryker and Edon.

The Streaks stand 12-4, 4- 1 NWOAL.

AHS 3, LC 2

Archbold traveled to Liberty Center, Monday, April 18, and picked up a 3-2 NWOAL win and dropping the Tigers to 1-5, 0-2 NWOAL.

Ben Bucklew recorded the win, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out seven in seven innings.

The Streaks had seven hits. Seth Mayer and Toby Walker led the way with two singles each; Mayer had a run-batted-in. Bucklew had an RBI double. Ian Radabaugh had an RBI single.

Stryker 3, AHS 1

Archbold hosted Stryker, Tuesday, April 19. The Panthers (8-1) rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh to sneak out of Archbold with a 3-1 victory.

Stryker led 1-0 after three innings, but the Blue and Gold knotted the score in the sixth.

Radabaugh suffered the loss, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out two and walking two in four innings.

Stryker outhit AHS 6-5. T. Walker paced Archbold with a pair of singles.

AHS 8, Delta 6

Archbold scored three runs in the seventh inning to send its NWOAL game at Delta, Thursday, April 21, into extra innings, then scored two more in the eighth to win 8- 6.

Delta led 6-3 after five before the five-run onslaught by the Streaks.

T. Walker’s line drive to center field with two outs in the seventh drove in the tying run.

Lathon Babcock then drove in the winning run in the eighth.

Bryce Williams added an insurance run with a suicide squeeze bunt.

Derek Walker came on in relief in the fifth and shut out the Panthers to pick up the win.

In four innings he allowed no runs on four hits and struck out three.

AHS 11, Evergreen 4

Archbold hosted Evergreen (3-9, 0-3 NWOAL), Friday, April 22, in an NWOAL matchup and picked up an 11-4 win.

Evergreen jumped out to a 4-1 lead going into the bottom half of the third, when the Streaks took over, scoring three in the bottom of the inning and adding two in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Bucklew picked up his fourth win of the season with no losses, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out four, and walking five.

A host of Streaks led the way at the plate in the 15-hit attack.

Radabaugh notched three singles and three RBIs. Williams and Mayer each had two singles and two RBIs.

T. Walker, Trevor Rupp, and Bucklew each had two singles and one RBI.

AHS 5, Holgate 0

In just his second start on the mound, Rupp threw a two-hit shutout when AHS recorded a 5-0 win over Holgate, Friday, April 22, at Archbold.

Rupp struck out 10 with just one walk.

The Streaks recorded 10 hits. Nic Rodriguez had two singles and one RBI. Babcock and Radabaugh added two singles each, with an RBI for Babcock. Mayer hit a triple.

AHS 4, Hicksville 0

Archbold traveled to Hicksville (6-4), Saturday, April 23, to face the Aces and Edon.

The Streaks held all the right cards and picked up a 4-0 win shutout.

Sophomore Brandon Miller (3-1) threw the shutout and scattered six hits, struck out two and walked two.

Derek Walker blasted a two-run home run and added a single.

Edon 4, AHS 1

In the second game the Streaks faced Edon (6-3) and dropped a 4-1 contest.

Radabaugh (0-2) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits, striking out one, and walking four.

Williams had two singles and one RBI.

Edon pitcher Landon Bloir threw 13 strikeouts.
