Alvin G. “Sam” Hill, 86, of Napoleon, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Napoleon.
He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Damascus Twp. to the late John H. & Lilly Mae (Sweeney) Hill, one of 13 children.
On June 30, 1951, he married Dorothy (Snyder) Hill in Lytton, Ohio.
Alvin worked for Toledo Edison for 30 years. He previously delivered bread for Tony’s Bakery.
He was a devoted member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon.
He served in the U.S Army and is an lifetime member of the Napoleon AMVETS.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Barbara LaShari of Sugarland, Texas, Brenda (Paul) Crosby of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Terry (Julie) Hill of Powell; grandchildren, Noreen(Brian)Stewart,Marissa LaShari, Eric (Christina) Crosby, Justin Crosby, Amanda Murphy, Wesley Hill; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Tariq LaShari and Kristi Hill; sisters, Alta Kiessling, Iva Stoll, Audrey Tallman, Pauline Lefller, Henrietta Hill, Cory Ordway; infant sister, Arlene Hill; and brothers, Martin, Harvey, Robert, John, and Charles.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
