The Archbold volleyball team improved to 3-1, 2-0 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League season with a 25-20, 28-26, 25-20 victory at Montpelier, Thursday, Sept. 10.

“Things are going good for us at this point in the season,” said Jill Holdgreve, AHS head coach.

“It has been a slow start for us, as we have only had three play dates and four games since the start of our season on Aug. 3.

“We are excited to get going into the game schedule and start competing against some great teams. We’ve had a great start to our season with a 3-1 (2-0 NWOAL) record.

“The girls have been working hard and done everything that I have asked of them.

“Our defense is coming along great. With great passers– Andi Peterson, Brooke Hines, Jillian Schwietzer, Peyton Dickman– we’ve been able to set up a great offense.

“Alyssa Ziegler has done a fabulous job of setting up our offense and giving us different play options with our hitters.

“Our blocking and attacking out of our front row are coming along. We would still like to see improvements in these areas.

“We know that serving is the one part of the game that we can control, and we need to do a better job at controlling that.

“We also need to be better disciplined in our serve receive.

“We have come a long way from day one, but they continue to put the effort and time in. It will come!”
