AHS Tennis Splits Week

With the temperature at 33 degrees and snow falling, the Archbold boys tennis team opened its season with a 3-2 loss at Sylvania Northview, Monday, April 4.

James Kidder said it was the first time in his eight years as AHS head coach that the Streaks played in such conditions.

Archbold evened its record at 1-1 with a 3-2 victory over Bowling Green, Tuesday, April 5, at AHS.

Two other matches were cancelled due to the weather. Northview 3, AHS 2

Singles: 1. Jereme Rupp (A) def. Anish Marmin 6-4, 6-2. 2. Dominic Ciucci (N) def. Erik Short 6-0, 6-1. 3. Antony Kamenny (N) def. Josh Kidder 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles: 1. Alex Short and Lucas Rupp (A) def. Jared Freeman and Hrishi Sayaiya 6-7, 6-4, 6-2. 2. Feross Sarsour and John Young (N) def. Luke McQuade and Michael Short 6-3, 6-0. AHS 3, Bowling Green 2

 

 

Singles: 1. J. Rupp (A) def. Luther Shinew 6-0, 6-0. 2. E. Short (A) def. Andrew Slembarski 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. 3. Kidder (A) def. Josh Slembarski 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles: 1. Alex Messenger and John Johnston (BG) def. A. Short and L. Rupp 7-6, 6-4. 2. Preston Mormon and Erik Schempf (BG) def. Richard Payne and M. Short 6-4, 6-3.
