AHS Tennis Falls To Bryan, Bluffton

After four straight victories, the Archbold girls tennis team were blanked 5-0 by Bryan, Thursday, Sept. 21, and Bluffton, Saturday, Sept. 23.

Bryan 5, AHS 0

Singles: 1. Chloe McCashen (B) def. Amanda Payne 6-1, 6-0. 2. Olivia Deleon (B) def. Belle Clark 4-6, 7-5 (10-3). 3. Jenessa Johnson (B) def. Leah Miller 6-4, 6-1.

Doubles: 1. Sloane Brown and Allie Boyer (B) def. Callie Rohrs and Elizabeth Mignin 6-0, 6-0. 2. Kate Greathaus and Taylor Peters (B) def. Sara Lovejoy and Maggie Henry 6-1, 6-4.

JV: Katie Farrell and Kayla VonSeggern (B) def. Isabella Ruiz and Adrianna Thompson 6-2. Kyla Fox and Gabi Bany (B) def. Thompson and Ruiz 6-0.

Bluffton 5, AHS 0

Singles: 1. Katie Wright (B) def. Payne 6-1, 6-2. 2. Lucie Fett (B) def. Miller 6-0, 6-2. 3. Erin Hotmire (B) def. Melayna Stuckey 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles: 1. Raychel Avila and Emma Klinger (B) def. Rohrs and Mignin 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, (10-5). 2. Olivia Barnes and Pearl Lewandowski (B) def. Lovejoy and Henry 6-7 (4-7), 6-0 (10-4).

JV: Thompson and Ruiz lost 6-0, 6-0.

Sectional

Ottawa Hills hosts the Division II sectional tournament, Thursday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 7.

Other teams in the sectional are Bryan, Toledo Central Catholic, Maumee, Maumee Valley Country Day, Napoleon, Ottawa Hills, Toledo Rogers, Rossford, Toledo Christian, Wauseon, and Toledo Woodward.

The top four singles players and top four doubles teams advance to the district tournament, Wednesday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 14, at Bowling Green State University (semifinals) and Port Clinton High School (finals).
