AHS Runs At Delta Invite

The Archbold cross country teams ran at the Delta Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 15.

The AHS boys didn’t have enough runners to place as a team. Delta won with 73 points. Lenawee Christian second, 140; Fayette, 141.

The AHS girls placed 13th out of 17 schools. First was Wauseon with 41 points. Blissfield was second, 88, followed by Delta, 120.

“Again this week I was very pleased with the way our athletes performed,” said Mike Wachtmann, AHS coach. “With only one exception, every girl cut substantial time off their season bests.

“A highlight is Amanda Storrer, who cut more than two minutes off her all-time best, and continues to improve every race!

“With four first-year high school runners, we expect to compete better in dual meets than in large invitationals. So placing in front of four other teams was an unexpected result of great personal performances.

“With two boys missing, we did not have enough to score as a team. That did not affect Brian Grime, Michael Volkman and Justin Storrer, who took a half-minute off their season best times.

“We also enjoyed having the junior high team travel with us, and they had a great day too!”
