AHS JV Softball Opens Season With Three Wins

The Archbold junior varsity softball team started the season with three wins.

The Streaks hosted Patrick Henry, Monday, March 26. Hannah Kern and Kennedy Wyse combined for a five-inning, one-hit, 21-2 win.

Archbold scored seven runs in the first inning and 12 in the third to take control.

Jen Gerken and Shannon Neuenschwander each had two hits. Gerken, Desi Newman and Alexa Coressel had doubles. Newman had four runs batted in; Coressel, three; and Ashley Short, two.

Archbold hosted Edon, Tuesday, March 27. Winter Fricke and Kern combined for a no-hit shutout in the 9-0 win.

The Streaks scored six runs on seven hits in the first inning. Fricke went 3- 3 at the plate. Gerken and Hannah Hesterman both had two hits. Cayla Walker added a double.

Megan Miller, Coressel and Newman each had two RBIs.

Defiance came to Memorial Park, Thursday, March 29, and lost 13-1 in a five-inning game. Fricke was the winning pitcher, giving up four hits and five strikeouts. Kern also pitched.

Fricke and Coressel both had two hits. Jessie Walker, Hesterman, Short, Gerken and Neuenschwander all had one. Gerken, Neuenschwander and Coressel each had two RBIs.
