AHS JV Girls Go 7-1




The Archbold junior varsity girls basketball team opened its season hosting Edgerton, Saturday, Nov. 29. The Streaks won a close game, 38-34.

Nicole Hurst scored 11 points and Sarah Wyse had seven. Also scoring were Chelsea Goebel, Carley Wyse, Mindy Rupp, Abby Short and Morgan Cody.

Hurst had eight rebounds.

Next was Wauseon, Tuesday, Dec. 2. Low scoring by the Streaks in the second and third quarters doomed them, and they lost 47-33.

Scoring leaders were S. Wyse with eight and Hurst, seven. Short and S. Wyse had four rebounds each.

Delta came to town, Friday, Dec. 5 and Archbold had no problem, winning 45-8. Goebel and Short led the scoring with eight each while Cody had seven. S. Wyse, Hurst and Tori Williams all had six.

Short dominated the boards with 12 rebounds. Rupp added three assists.

Archbold hosted Rossford, Monday, Dec. 8. The Blue and Gold jumped out to a nice lead and never looked back, winning 51-25. Short had 12 points, followed by Hurst and S. Wyse with eight each. Hurst had seven rebounds; Short, six; and C. Wyse, five.

Archbold traveled to Fairview, Tuesday, Dec. 9. Alicia Drewes led the way to a 31-19 victory with nine points. Also scoring were S. Wyse, Goebel, C. Wyse, Ruthie Beck, Cody and Short. Drewes also had three assists and four rebounds.

Northwest Ohio Athletic League foe Liberty Center was next on Friday, Dec. 12. In a close game, Archbold held on to win 35-33.

Scoring leaders were Short with 11 and Hurst with seven. S. Wyse had four rebounds.

In the Defiance Clinic Classic at Ayersville, Monday, Dec. 15 and Tuesday, Dec. 16, Archbold won the tournament and upped its record to 7-1 by defeating Tinora 42-35 and Ayersville 50- 37.

Against the Rams, Drewes scored 12 points. S. Wyse had seven rebounds. Drewes again led the scoring against the Pilots with 14, followed by Hurst with 10.

C. Wyse and S. Wyse each had four rebounds.
