AHS JV Baseball Wins 3

The Archbold junior varsity baseball team showed improvement last week, winning three of five games.

Back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the seventh inning by Trey Westrick and Jared Leininger gave the Streaks a 5-4 walk-off win over Liberty Center, Monday, April 21. It was Leininger’s second double of the game. Drew Smith also had a double and drove in two runs.

Garrett Morton started on the mound and went four innings, while Corey Wyse picked up the win in relief by shutting out the Tigers the last three.

Archbold pounded out a season high 14 hits, Tuesday, April 22 and thumped Ayersville 13- 5. Westrick led the offense with three hits, while Corey Wyse, Aaron Bernath, Leininger, and Smith each added two.

Shem Neuenschwander was the starting and winning pitcher, with Tyler Appel and Bobby Rodriguez turning in strong relief performances.

Bryan won its 11th game in 12 outings by shutting down the Streaks 9-2, Thursday, April 24. Corey Wyse had two of the three Archbold hits. Ben Miller took the loss on the mound.

Hicksville scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to beat Archbold 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader, Saturday, April 26.

Corey Wyse pitched an excellent game but tired after six innings. Rodriguez was tagged with the loss in relief.

Zac Grosjean and Smith each had two hits, with Smith driving in two runs. Aaron Wyse drove in the third run.

Rodriguez bounced right back and picked up the win in relief in the second game as Archbold (4-9) scored three times in extra innings to win 7-4.

Grosjean had the hot stick as he hit safely four times, while Corey Wyse had three hits. Westrick and Appel each added two.
