Archbold, OH

AHS JV Baseball Loses 5

The weather got a lot better, but the results for the Archbold junior varsity baseball team didn’t, as the Streaks lost all five of their games last week.

Holding a 3-1 lead heading into the sixth inning, Archbold couldn’t hang on for a win against Swanton, Monday, April 14, as the Bulldogs scored three times to win 4-3.

Ben Miller pitched well, allowing only one earned run, but still suffered the loss. Corey Wyse collected two hits.

The Blue Streaks again let a late-inning lead get away Tuesday, April 15, when Paulding tallied six runs in the sixth to erase a 1-0 Archbold lead and beat the Streaks 6-1. Drew Smith limited the Panthers to only one run through the first five innings. Wyse and Trey Westrick pitched in relief, with Wyse taking the loss.

AHS hitters could only muster three hits for the game.

Archbold lost 7-2 to undefeated Eastwood, Thursday, April 17. Westrick had two hits. Shem Neuenschwander had another strong outing on the mound as he went the distance, scattering six hits and giving up only three earned runs.

Perrysburg (8-1) came to town Saturday, April 19 and swept a doubleheader 12-6 and 14-4. Westrick again had two hits in the first game, but also suffered the loss on the mound in relief.

The bright spot in the nightcap was a 3-3 hitting performance by Jared Leininger. Smith was tagged with the loss, even though he only gave up one earned run.
