NWOAL Golf Tourney

The Streaks play in the Northwest Ohio Golf Tournament, Friday, Sept. 20, at Auglaize Golf Club, Defi- ance.

Action begins at 9 a.m.

Wauseon will attempt to defend its title. The Indians defeated Bryan by two shots last year; the Bears had been seeking their fifth straight league title.

“We just shot our best round of the year last week on the road against Evergreen,” said Mike Rosebrook, AHS coach. “That’s a good sign.

“Our number-one golfer (Boyers) is on the way up right now. Another good sign.

“This sport fluctuates somewhat predictably for each individual. I’m hoping he gets hot and peaks at just the right time.

“Medalist honors could go to a number of different people. Kevin has that ability for sure. He got hot at sectionals last year and helped us beat Lake by one stroke to go to districts.

“Our younger guys have worked very hard on their swings and now are doing the same on their short games. We are starting to see results.

“At the practice round this week we will talk strategy for the par-3 holes as well as a few other potential big number holes.

“Drivers will cost you more strokes than they will save you at Auglaize. The changing weather will start to affect how courses play this week also.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if some of us put up our best numbers of the year.”
