AHS Golfers Win Detwiler Invitational

The Archbold golf team continued its winning ways last week, defeated Hicksville and Stryker and winning the Detwiler Invitational.

AHS 155, Hicksville 202

Archbold defeated the Aces 155-202 at Wauseon, Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Kade Kern was the match medalist with a 1-under par 35.

Brandon Miller finished with a 37, Trevor Rupp 39, Kreighton Sims 44, Reese Knapp 46, Drew McCarty 51.

AHS 157, Stryker 162

The Streaks beat the Panthers by five strokes, Thursday, Aug. 17, at Stryker.

Archbold’s Mitch Grosjean and Stryker’s Spencer Clingaman shared match medalist honors, with each shooting a 36.

Miller shot a 39, Rupp 41, Sims 41, A.J. Mahnke 41, Kern 46.

Stryker: Abe Montague 37, Aaron Sidle 40, Colin Anders 49, Logan Boetz 51, Devon Weirauch 67.

Detwiler Invitational

After a fourth-place finish in 2016, the Streaks captured the 2017 Detwiler Invitational, Friday, Aug. 18, in Toledo.

Archbold finished with a team score of 321, two strokes ahead of second-place Toledo Central Catholic, who finished with a 323.

Genoa was third with 354. Other teams: Lake 357, Eastwood 357, Swanton 383.

Miller and Sims each made the All-Tournament Team. Miller and Toledo CC’s Daniel Powers each shot low scores of 74, but Powers was named match medalist after the scorecard playoff, in which the player with the better back nine holes wins.

Sims shot an 81 to finish fifth overall and make the All-Tournament Team of the top six players.

Mahnke shot an 82, Kern 84, Grosjean 84, and Rupp 86.
