With the rain coming down, the Archbold girls soccer team upped its record to 5-0 with a 9-0 victory over Toledo Christian, Saturday, Sept. 11.

The Streaks have outscored their opponents 36-0 thus far this season.

Both teams had challenges controlling the ball and staying on their feet on the very wet field.

Alicia Drewes broke free to send the ball past the Eagles’ goalie to give Archbold a 1-0 lead.

Jesse Fidler scored to increase the lead to 2-0.

Mindy Rupp had some shots on goal but they were denied by the TC goalie. Trisha King, Lauren Kindinger, Cassidy Wyse, and Fidler also made attempts on goal.

Drewes added her second goal of the game, which was the 100th of her high school career.

As a freshman, she set a school record for single season goals (32) and assists (21). She scored 22 goals and had 15 assists her sophomore year, and 29 goals and seven assists her junior year.

Drewes added a third goal to give AHS a 4-0 advantage at the half.

Fidler added a quick goal in the second half to expand the lead. King sent the next ball past the goalie, and Fidler soon picked up her third goal of the game followed by two goals by Sierra Nofziger for the 9-0 final.

On defense, Ella Weaver, Nichole Wood, Ellen Yoder, Meggie Yoder, Cassidy Garrow, Amanda Lovejoy, Blanca Calderon, and Brie Deskins in goal stopped the soaring attack by Toledo Christian to end the game.
