AHS Girls Second At Dillers, Boys Sixth

Pettisville Girls Team Finishes Seventh

Liberty Center stopped the Archbold boys track team’s string of Diller Invitational titles at two, as the Tigers won the boys title and Columbus Grove took the girls championship, Saturday, April 23, at Ayersville.

The Archbold girls team finished second, and the PHS girls team finished seventh.

Archbold finished sixth in the boys rankings.

“Our boys team did not place in any events,” said Tom Wagner, PHS head coach.

“We had a number of boys that were absent due to an academic event they were previously committed to.”

Girls

Columbus Grove won the girls title with 115 points. The Streaks finished with 72, and Holgate was third with 71.

The Birds finished with 45 to finish seventh out of 16 teams.

Archbold event winners included Sydney Ranzau, pole vault; Dakota Stamm, 400-meter dash; Emily Roth, 200; the 4×200 team of Julia Lambert, Stamm, Morgan Miller, and Roth; and the 4×400 team of Lambert, Roth, Gwynne Riley, and Stamm, which set a meet record of 4 minutes, 12.37 seconds.

 

 

Their time broke the previous record of 4:14.5 set in 1981 by Antwerp.

The Pettisville 4×800-meter team of Elizabeth Sauder, Nichole Foor, Morgan Leppelmeier, and Alexa Leppelmeier set a meet record of 9:47.97 to win, beating the previous record of 9:59.8 set in 2010 by Pettisville.

Pole vault: 1. Ranzau (A) 9 feet, 0 inches; 8. Kendal Pursel (P) 7-6.

Long jump: 1. Engel (Ayersville) 15-7; 4. Roth (A) 15-0 3/4; 8. Tessa Waidelich (P) 14-2 1/2.

4×800: 1. Pettisville (Sauder, Foor, M. Leppelmeier, A. Leppelmeier) 9:47.97 meet record; 3. Archbold (Stamm, Kennedy Miller, Maura Riley, G. Riley) 10:31.07.

100-meter hurdles: 1. McCluer (CG) 16.44 seconds; 5. Lexa Richardson (A) 16.72.

Boys

Liberty Center won the boys title with 140 points. Montpelier was second with 84, and Columbus Grove was third with 79.

Archbold finished with 53 to place sixth out of 15 teams.

Jack Fisher was the only AHS winner, capturing the 400.

Discus: 1. Roney (CG) 159-1; 6. Brian Ball (A) 122-7.

High jump: 1. Phillips (Delta) 5- 10; 2. Fisher (A) 5-8 tie with Friend (Montpelier).
