Leading 20-2 after the first period, the Archbold girls basketball team raised its record to 12-0, 4-0 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League with a 55-21 victory at Montpelier, Friday, Jan. 6.
“Every league game is important, and we went to Montpelier and took care of business,” said Brian Ziegler, AHS head coach.
“I thought we remained focused throughout the game. Our pressure was a huge factor in the beginning of the game, which got us a big lead.
“We did some nice things with our press and got some good traps and steals. We still need to keep improving as we have a big stretch of games coming up.”
The Streaks increased the advantage to 32-6 at the half and 42-14 after three.
Cassidy Wyse was the only player in double figures, with 12 points.
Lauren Dye led the Locos (0-8, 0-2 NWOAL) with eight.
AHS won the rebounding battle 25-21, with Abby Short grabbing six.
Montpelier committed 31 turnovers to Archbold’s 13.
