The Archbold girls basketball team is riding a fourgame win streak after defeating Swanton 48-41, Friday, Jan. 3, to open Northwest Ohio Athletic League play.

The Streaks improved to 6-4, 1-0 NWOAL, while Swanton dropped to 5-3, 0-1 NWOAL.

“It was a good win to open league play,” said Brian Ziegler, AHS head coach. “I thought we did some good things in the first half and Swanton did some good things in the second half.

“We played well defensively. Swanton fought back. Karsyn Hostetler hit a big three to give us back the momentum.”

The score was tied at 9 after one when the Streaks went on a 21-7 tear in the second to open a 30-16 lead at the break.

The Bulldogs came back in the third, outscoring AHS 17-7 to close the difference to 37-33 entering the final eight minutes.

Archbold scored 11 points in the fourth while Swanton scored eight for the 48-41 final.

Abi Borojevich led AHS, with 13 points. Kylie Sauder was also in double figures, with 11.

Swanton’s Aricka Lutz led all scorers, with 19 points. Averie Lutz added 14.

The Streaks had the rebounding edge, 33-21. Sauder led AHS, with 10.

Archbold committed 19 turnovers, though, to 12 for the Bulldogs.
