Archbold defeated Northwood 66-27 and Rossford 77-28 to win a Division III sectional girls basketball championship and advance to an All-Northwest Ohio Athletic League district tournament at Lake High School this week.

Evergreen (13-11), which won its first district title in school history last year, plays Delta (14-10), tomorrow, Thursday, 6:15 pm.

Archbold (23-1, ranked second in the final Associated Press poll), plays Swanton (15-8) in the nightcap at approximately 8 pm.

Winners play for the district championship, Saturday, March 4, 2:30 pm.

“It should be an interesting All-NWOÅL district,” said Brian Ziegler, AHS head coach.

“We did what we had to do tonight to move on,” said Ziegler.

“We did a nice job defensively and rebounded the ball well tonight. We had some nice fast breaks.

“Kamryn Hostetler had some nice passes and got the ball to our shooters, Alyssa Ziegler and Kierstyn Repp. Andi Peterson was active on offense and defense tonight.

“The most important thing this time of year is moving on.”

A. Peterson led all scorers, with 14 points. Repp scored 13 and Ziegler, 10.

Allison Roach led the Rangers, with 13.

The Streaks hit 22 deuces and five three-pointers, while Northwood hit only six field goals and five threes.

Archbold won the rebounding battle 35-18, led by Repp with seven. The Streaks committed 12 turnovers to Northwood’s 25.

Up 32-15 at the half, the Streaks led 39-20 with 5:15 in the third period when they went on a 17-2 run to end the period and then outscored the Bulldogs 21-6 in the fourth for the 49-point margin of victory.

Ten Blue Streaks scored in the contest. The Streaks hit nine three-pointers.

“I thought after we settled down, we played 2 1/2 solid quarters,” said Ziegler.

“It’s nice winning the sectional with so many girls contributing.

“We ran into a little foul trouble, and Lily Krieger and Emie Peterson gave us a lift. Kam, Alyssa and Kierstyn had solid games at the guard position.”

Repp led all scorers, with 20 points, including four treys. E. Peterson and Krieger were also in double figures, with 12 points each.

Gabby Carlin and Haleigh Peters each scored seven to lead Rossford (5-19).
