AHS Girls Hold All The Cards Against Aces

Jumping out to a 35-17 halftime lead, Archbold went on to defeat Hicksville 61-40 in their girls basketball season opener, Saturday, Nov. 25, at Hicksville.

“Tonight was a nice season opening win,” said Brian Ziegler, AHS head coach. “We haven’t had a lot of practice time yet, so we did a pretty solid job.

“We had several girls step up both offensively and defensively. I thought we did a solid job rebounding, especially with their size.

“I liked our defensive pressure and the amount of turnovers we forced.”

The Streaks won the rebounding battle 31-18, led by Andi Peterson with 10.

Archbold committed only 16 turnovers to 28 for the Aces.

The Streaks sank seven three-pointers, including three each from Blair Bucklew and Kamryn Hostetler. Bucklew led AHS with 17 points, while Hostetler scored 11.

Hicksville’s Addison Bergman led all scorers, with 20.

Archbold was 4-7 from the free-throw line. Hicksville was 11-13.
