The Archbold girls basketball team bounced back from a loss to Bowling Green with a 48-24 Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory over Montpelier, Friday, Dec. 21, in the Thunderdome.
In a slow first half, the Streaks (9-1, 4-0 NWOAL) led 8-4 after one and 17-9 going into the locker room.
The scoring heated up in the second half, and a 16-5 third quarter gave AHS a 33-14 advantage.
AHS outscored the Locos 15-10 in the fourth for the 24-point victory.
“I thought we did a much better job in the second half,” said Brian Ziegler, AHS head coach. “We stood around and waited for things to happen instead of making things happen in the first half.
“We were much more active in our press the second half. I thought we did a nice job on their scorers, not letting them get too many good shots.”
Cassidy Wyse was the only Blue Streak in double figures. She led all scorers with 14 points.
Baylee Hageman led the Locos with 10.
Archbold was 3-12 from the foul line, while Montpelier (3-6, 0-3 NWOAL) was 3-8. The Locos won the rebounding battle 26-21, but committed 23 turnovers to Archbold’s nine.
