Wauseon slipped past Bryan by one stroke to claim the Northwest Ohio Athletic League golf tournament title, Friday, Sept. 21, at Defi- ance.
The Indians scored 320 points to Bryan’s 321 to claim the title. Swanton was third with 323, and Archbold finished fourth with 350. Liberty Center was fifth with 351, followed by Delta with 371; Patrick Henry, 377; Evergreen, 378; and Montpelier, 393.
The Streaks (34-23) were led by Stuart Wyse, who shot a 79 and was named First Team All-NWOAL.
Kevin Boyers and Antonio Cuellar each shot 89s, and received honorable mentions. Zach Short shot a 93, Brodie Ranzau had a 94, and Michael Hesterman finished with a 96.
Four golfers tied with the tourney’s lowest score of 76: Swanton’s Collin O’Riordon and Kyle Dockery, Bryan’s Shea Vogelsong, and LC’s Tyler Davis.
Swanton 157, AHS 167
The Bulldogs defeated the Streaks by 10 strokes, Monday, Sept. 17, at Swanton.
Wyse and Short were low men for AHS, each shooting a 39. Cuellar had a 42, while Boyers and Hesterman each finished with 47s. Elijah Miller finished with a 50.
Swanton’s O’Riordon was match medalist with a 37.
NC 145, AHS 154, Delta 177
North Central won a trimeet with Archbold and Delta, Thursday, Sept. 20, at North Central.
Ranzau led AHS with a 37. Short shot a 38, while Cuellar had a 39. Wyse and Boyers each shot a 40, and Hesterman had a 43.
NC’s Clay VandeVoorde was match medalist with a 34.
The Division II girls sectional golf tournament was scheduled to be played yesterday, Tuesday, at Swanton. Archbold and Pettisville were among the 13 participating schools.
The top three teams and three individual low scorers not on a qualifying team advance to the district tournament at Sycamore Springs Golf Course, Arlington, on Monday, Oct. 1.
The Division II boys sectional tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27, at Detwiler Park Golf Course, Toledo.
