Bryan Miller, AHS head football coach, has compiled a 38-15 record in his six years at the helm of Archbold.

The Blue Streaks finished 6-4, 4-4 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League last year.

Even though 19 letterwinners are back, the Streaks return just five starters on offense and four on defense.

Seniors back are Matt Petersen, wide receiver/defensive lineman; Zach Belknap, wide receiver/defensive back/ kicker; Brandon Goering, quarterback/wide receiver/ linebacker, Honorable Mention All-NWOAL linebacker;

Levi Wyse, wide receiver/ running back/defensive back, First Team All-NWOAL Specialist; Blake Baden, wide receiver/ defensive back; Isaac Burkholder, wide receiver/ defensive lineman;

Justin Lovejoy, Ethan Warncke, Skylar Gericke, Nathaniel Ballmer, Aaron Zimmerman, Hayden Galvan, offensive/defensive linemen.

Returning juniors are Alex Weaver and Isaac Petersen, wide receivers/defensive backs; Seth Mayer, wide receiver/ defensive back/kicker;

Benny Gomez, wide receiver/ defensive back, Honorable Mention All-NWOAL wide receiver; Derek Walker, quarterback/defensive back, Honorable Mention All- NWOAL wide receiver;

Garrett Grime, wide receiver/ linebacker; Mitchell Hogrefe, offensive/defensive lineman, Honorable Mention All-NWOAL defensive end.

“We bring back a solid core of starters from last year,” said Miller.

“We should have a little more depth on the offensive line than we have had in past years, and we are looking to be strong again in both our kicking and return games.

“We lost some really talented players. We only graduated seven seniors, but five received all-district honors and three were all-state.

“We also lost three-year starters at both quarterback and center, which are key positions. From a talent perspective, we have some big shoes to fill.”

Lost to graduation were Evan Wyse, First Team All- NWOAL quarterback, First Team All-District, Second Team All-Ohio; Jase Grosjean, Second Team All- NWOAL wide receiver, First Team All-District, Honorable Mention All-Ohio;

Quinton Ranzau, Honorable Mention All-NWOAL defensive back; Lee Klinger, Second Team All-NWOAL defensive lineman, Second Team All-District linebacker;

Jacob Wagner, Second Team All-NWOAL linebacker, Second Team All-District; Lincoln Parsley, First Team All-NWOAL defensive back, First Team All-District, HM All-Ohio; and Travis Jaramillo.

“We’ve had another strong summer in the weight room,” said Miller. “Our kids have put in a lot of time and effort and are highly motivated.

“We have a lot of potential.

“As always, we will need to stay healthy and must have our young guys step into their new varsity roles. We hope to be competitive every game.”

Miller looks for Delta, Bryan and Wauseon all to be in the hunt for the NWOAL title.

The NWOAL revamped this year’s schedule, and Archbold will face those three league favorites in the first five games of the year.

The Streaks open with Hicksville on Friday, Aug. 29, followed by Delta, Bryan, and Toledo Start, who is new to the schedule, and Wauseon.
