AHS Captures District Track Titles

The Archbold track teams ran away from the competition, Thursday, May 22 and Saturday, May 24 to win Division III district championships at Ayersville.

The top four finishers in each event advanced to the regional meet in Tiffin, Wednesday, May 28 and Friday, May 30. Events begin at 4 p.m. each day.

Boys

Archbold 87.5, Tinora 71.5, Ayersville 67, Edgerton 62, Liberty Center 53, Hilltop 50, Hicksville 48.33, Patrick Henry 37, Fairview 35.5, Continental 33, Pettisville 29.33, Antwerp 27.83, Montpelier 22, Edon 13, Stryker 10, Fayette 8, North Central 6

The Blue Streaks won three events: the 200, 4×100-meter relay and 4×200.

Nate Hammersmith won the 200 in 22.81 seconds. Garrett Waidelich was second in 23.0.

Both were also on the winning 4×100 and 4×200 teams with Breon Price and Jacob Fidler. The 4×100 relay team won in 44.26; the 4×200 relay won in one minute, 32.46 seconds.

In the 100, Waidelich placed second and Price placed fourth. Colin Shannon placed second in the high jump and Michael Volkman was second in the 800.

The boys 4×400 team of Hammersmith, Shannon, Fidler, and Volkman placed third, finishing a half-second (.5) behind firstplace Hicksville.

The 4×800 team of Shannon, Noah Keefer, Brian Grime, and Volkman placed fourth.

Pole vault: 1. Fuller (T), 12 feet, six inches; 5. Noah Pelmear (A), 11-6.

High jump: 1. Tietje (PH), 6-0; 2. Shannon (A), 5-10; 8. Klein Gnagey (A) and Travis Kempf (F), 5-8 (tie).

4×800: 1. Fairview 8:17.45; 4. Archbold (Shannon, Keefer, Grime, Volkman), 8:29.62.

4×400: 1. Hicksville, 3:31.01; 3. Archbold (Hammersmith, Shannon, Fidler, Volkman), 3:31.52.

The Blue Streak girls ran away with the meet. Autumn Lantz and Trisha King led the way; each was a triple winner.

Lantz won the 100 in 12.81, the 200 in 26.94, and was the anchor of the 4×100 that won in 54.69.

King won the 1600 in 5:44.82, the 3200 in 12:26.29, and was on the 4×800 that won in 10:16.39.

Katrina Gobrogge was a double winner. She won the 800 in 2:23.45 and anchored the 4×800.

Laura Bowman and Nikki Rupp were also on the 4×800; Ashlie Horst, Katherine Moody, and Rahel Frei were the other 4×100 members.

Haley Nemcik placed second in the 100 hurdles.

The 4×200 team of Horst, Frei, Melinda Sauder, and Lantz placing third, two tenths of a second (.2) off the winning time.

Deena Cowell tied for third in the pole vault and Horst placed fourth in the 100.

The 4×400 team of Nemcik, Rupp, Cowell and Gobrogge placed fourth.
