AHS Boys Win Tinora Invitational

Josh Meyers, Nate Hammersmith, Danny Young, Noah Keefer, the boys 4×100- meter relay team, and the boys 4×400 won their events and led Archbold to a victory at the Bob Eisenhart Invitational at Tinora High School, Friday, April 9.

The Streaks scored 157 points to far outpace the second-place Rams, who finished with 79.5.

Meyers was a double winner, capturing the discus and shot put. Keefer won the 800.

Hammersmith set a meet record as he won the 200-meter dash. The senior ran the race in 22.62 seconds, almost a second faster than the previous record of 23.5 set in 2009.

Young won the 300-meter hurdles and set a meet record of 41.64, a second faster than the record of 42.8 set in 2009.

The 4×100 and 4×400 teams both set meet records. The 4×100 team of Dylan Lantz, Dean Herrett, Desmond Sleigh, and Hammersmith ran the race in 45.3 seconds, beating the old record of 46.0.

The 4×400 team of Hayden Stamm, Anthony Reyes, Keefer, and Young won in three minutes, 38.6 seconds, beating the old record of 3:44.2 by almost six seconds.

In all, nine records were set in the boys meet.

Girls

Autumn Lantz won two individual events, the 100 and 200. She set a meet record in the 200, running the race in 26.93. The old record was 28.6.

Trisha King set a record in the 800, winning the race in 2:33.99, breaking the old record of 2:36.4 by almost three seconds.

The 4×200 team (Tressa Parsley, Lantz, Ella Weaver, Rachel Wiemken) was victorious.

The 4×400 team (Wiemken, Parsley, Lantz, King) set a record in 4:26.24, breaking the old record of 4:56.1 by 30 seconds.

Defiance won with 93 points. Tinora was second with 88. Wayne Trace was third with 82, while Archbold had 70 to place fourth.

Twelve records were set in the girls meet.
