AHS Boys Track Wins Napoleon Invite

The Archbold boys track team won six events on its way to capturing the Napoleon Wildcat Track & Field Invitational title, Saturday, April 14.

The Streaks finished with 175 points. Bowling Green was second with 160, and Clay, last year’s champion, finished third with 107.

Event champions for the Blue and Gold included Danny Young, who set a meet record of 39.6 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. That broke the old record of 39.8 set in 2002 by Defiance’s Jacob Burgoon.

The 4×200 team of Jacob Ott, Blake Drewes, Levi Wyse, and Young also set a meet record of one minute, 31.7 seconds. That broke the record of 1:33.03 set in 2000 by Clay.

Other Blue Streak champions were Wyse, 200-meter dash; the 4×100-meter relay team of Ott, Jacob Reyes, Tyson Lersch, and Wyse; the high jump relay team of Devin Shannon, Gavin Morton, and Lersch; and the pole vault relay team of Dean Herrett, Darin Sauder, and Clayton Lehman.

Napoleon won the girls team title with 140 points. Perrysburg was second with 135, and Wauseon took third with 117.
