Archbold welcomed Woodmore to Spengler Field, Tuesday, Oct. 10, for its final regular season game.
It was also the final time seniors Denver Beck, Kaiden Bedsole, Connor Hagans, Trevan Kindinger, Luke McQuade, Daniel Nieves, Joshua Richardson, Nick Waidelich, Caleb Wooley and Lucas Yoder suited up for a regular-season game.
Archbold ended the season on a high note, blanking the Wildcats 3-0 for its tenth straight victory.
The Streaks ended with a 14-1-1 record, a Northwest Ohio Athletic League championship, and a number five ranking in Division III by the Ohio Soccer Scholastic Coaches Association.
“These seniors have seen an incredible amount of success over the past four years,” said Sean Stewart, AHS head coach.
“Tonight was a celebration of that success and their growth as soccer players and, more importantly, individuals.
“It’s always nice to celebrate them with a victory, and they made that happen.”
Josh Kidder opened the scoring just 36 seconds in.
Bedsole scored the second goal with 11:50 remaining in the first half for a 2-0 lead.
The Streaks received a gift from Woodmore (12-4- 0) when the Wildcats were guilty of scoring an own goal for the final goal of the night.
Archbold had 12 shots on goal while Wooley turned away five Woodmore shots to record the shutout, the team’s fifth straight and tenth overall.
“Woodmore is a quality opponent, and we did a nice job of controlling large parts of the game,” said Stewart.
Second-seeded Archbold opens tournament play at home, Saturday, Oct. 21, 5 pm, against the sectional semifinal winner between Genoa (7-9-0) and Emmanuel Christian (1-5-0).
The district semifinals are Tuesday, Oct. 24, 7 pm, at Rossford, and the district championship game is Saturday, Oct. 28, 5 pm, at Rossford.
