AHS Boys Soccer Win Streak At 11

The Archbold boys soccer team (11-2, 3-0 NWOAL) hosted Lima Central Catholic (3-7-2), Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the first-ever meeting of the two schools, with the Streaks dominating 7-0.

The Streaks traveled to Wauseon (1-11, 0-4 NWOAL), Thursday, Oct. 1, gaining an 8-0 shutout in league play.

Archbold visited Ottawa Hills (9-3), Saturday, Oct. 3, in a battle of the two topranked teams in the Northwest district. The Streaks upended the Green Bears, who are ranked fifth in the state, 5-1.

Ottawa Hills’ lone goal ended Archbold’s consecutive shutout streak at 10 games, which ties the Streaks for third place on the all-time consecutive shutout list in Ohio.

In 1982, Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit had a run of 12 shutouts, while the 2006 Gahanna Lincoln team holds the state record with a string of 17.

During the streak, Archbold scored 48 unanswered goals.

Key contributors to the shutout run were goalie Elijah Robison and defenders Mike Weigand, Denver Beck, Jereme Rupp, Kegan Ott, and Austin Welch.

AHS 7, LCC 0

Kaiden Bedsole headed in a goal from 7 yards after a cross from Rupp in the 12th minute to give Archbold an early lead.

Bedsole added two more goals early in the second stanza to notch a hat trick.

Josh Kidder, Lucas Yoder, Jared Kidder, and Jonah Waidelich also chipped in goals.

Josh Kidder and Andrew Hogrefe provided secondhalf assists.

The Streaks out-shot the visitors 17-0 and led 11-1 in corner kicks.

Thunderbird netminder Kyle Smith saved 10 shots on goal.

Archbold won the junior varsity game 4-1 with goals by Jonah Waidelich, Alex Short, Lucas Ingram, and Nick Waidelich.

AHS 8, Wauseon 0

The Streaks poured in seven first-half goals, including hat tricks by Bedsole and Jeremy Lerma, to take a commanding lead.

Josh Kidder also scored before halftime while sophomore Connor Hagans notched his first career goal in the second half.

Garnering assists were Josh Kidder, Welch, A.J. Short, Rupp, Gerson Calderon, and Hogrefe.

Wauseon managed two shots on goal, both saved by Robison.

Archbold fired ten shots on goal, with Indians goalie Lucas Blanchong saving two. The Streaks held the edge on corner kicks, 4-0.

AHS 5, Ottawa Hills 1

Josh Kidder, Yoder, Welch, Lerma, and Bedsole scored Archbold goals while Garrett Robinson scored for Ottawa Hills with a penalty kick.

Bedsole notched two assists while Josh Kidder added one.

Archbold had eight shots on goal to Ottawa Hills’ five, while the Green Bears led the corner kicks tally 5-4.

Robison grabbed four saves and Green Bear keeper Patrick Arnold snagged three.

The AHS reserves (9-0-1) shut out their hosts 3-0 with Jonah Waidelich and Clay Gerig scoring.

The third goal was an Ottawa Hills own goal.
