AHS Boys Seventh At District

The Archbold cross country teams traveled to Ottawa to run in the Division III, District 1 cross country races, Saturday, Oct. 18.

The top four teams and individuals in the top 16 advanced to the regional, Saturday, Oct. 25 in Tiffin.

Finishing with 179 points, the AHS boys team placed seventh out of 13 teams. Delta won with 54; Stryker was second with 71; Lima Central Catholic took third with 78; Pettisville was fourth with 126.

The AHS girls didn’t have enough runners to run as a team. Ottoville won with a low score of 20; Fairview was second with 86 points, along with Montpelier, who finished third. The last team to advance was Stryker, with 90.

Boys

Delta 54, Stryker 71, Lima Central Catholic 78, Pettisville 126, Liberty Center 156, Hicksville 178, Archbold 179, Bluffton 216, Ayersville 231, Patrick Henry 259, Evergreen 282, Kalida 302, Holgate 316.

The first Blue Streak to cross the line was Adrian Ramirez, who placed 18th in 17 minutes, 46 seconds.

Justin Storrer was 35th in 18:50. Right behind him was Jacob Gobrogge, 38th in 18:57.

Chandler Tinsman finished in 19:19 to finish 43rd. The last scoring runner for the Streaks was Michael Volkman, who was 45th in 19:20.

Other Streaks, their places and times: 84. Chris Jennings 22:23; 88. Seth Strawn 24:07.

Lima Central Catholic’s Jim Heider was the District 1 champion, with a time of 16:18.

Girls

Laura Bowman was the first Streak to cross the finish line. She placed 45th in 23:55. Elise Sauder was 59th in 25:03.

Aleah Lambright was hot on Sauder’s tail, finishing 60th in 25:04.

Amanda Storrer was 75th in 29:14.

Ottoville’s Shayla Siefker won in 19:07.

“They ran a nice, hard race and I am very proud of them,” said Mike Wachtmann, AHS coach.

“I will miss the five seniors (Lambright, J. Storrer, Gobrogge, Volkman, Jennings). They worked hard, and I had a fun time working with them and the rest of the team.”
