The Archbold boys basketball team raised its unblemished record to 9-0 with three non-league wins since Dec. 28, 2018.

The Streaks went on the road and defeated Eastwood 79-53, Friday, Dec. 28, and Fairview 72-36, Saturday, Jan. 5.

Archbold hosted Ottawa Hills in the Thunderdome, Thursday, Jan. 3, and dispatched the Green Bears 75- 45.

The Streaks averaged 75.3 points in the three games– with 33 three-pointers– while allowing an average of 44.7 points on defense.

“We’re playing extremely unselfish basketball right now,” said Joe Frank, AHS head coach.

“Obviously, as a coach, it’s a lot of fun to watch kids out there trying to make the team better and not worrying about how many shots they’re getting or how many points they are scoring.”

Archbold opened a big lead and coasted to a big win over the Apaches (3-4).

The Streaks jumped out to a 25-9 first-quarter advantage and outscored Fairview 22-4 in the second for a 47-13 lead at the half.

The Streaks opened the new year with an easy win over the Green Bears (4-2).

It was another great offensive start mixed with an overwhelming defense that set the tone.

The Streaks opened with a 20-5 first-quarter run on the strength of Ramos and Wiemken, who scored six points each.

Archbold increased the difference to 40-19 at the half thanks to Wiemken and Ramos’ 14 combined points in the quarter.

The Streaks built their biggest lead of the game to end the third, at 63-30.

Frank inserted his reserves for the entire fourth quarter.

“It all started at the defensive end,” said Frank. “They (Ottawa Hills) couldn’t get any free looks inside because we were putting so much pressure on the perimeter.

“They were having a hard time even seeing in there.”

Ten players scored for AHS.

Wiemken led all scorers with 16 points.

Ramos and Elijah Zimmerman were also in double figures with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

The Streaks hit 12 three-pointers to three for the Green Bears. Ramos hit four, while Williams hit three.
