AHS Boys Fifth At Leagues

The Archbold cross country teams traveled to Swanton to run in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League meet, Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Blue Streak boys placed fifth out of nine teams with 121 points. Delta won with a low score of 23. Wauseon was second with 99; Bryan rounded out the top three with 102.

The girls placed eighth with 230 points. Wauseon captured the title with 22. Bryan was second with 57; Liberty Center was third with 66.

First- through seventh-place finishers received First Team All-League honors. Eighththrough 14th-place finishers received Second Team All-League honors.

15th through 21st places received honorable mentions.


Delta 23, Wauseon 99, Bryan 102, Swanton 103, Archbold 121, Liberty Center 136, Montpelier 165, Patrick Henry 196, Evergreen 214.

Finishing first for Archbold was Adrian Ramirez. He placed 7th:17:45.

Michael Volkman was second into the chute for AHS; he was 25th: 18:46. Jacob Gobrogge, 28th: 18:54.

Justin Storrer, 32nd: 19:07. Chandler Tinsman rounded out Archbold’s top five; he was 36th: 19:19.

Chris Jennings was 76th: 22:54; Seth Strawn 86th: 25:18.

Delta’s Colin Fisher won: 16:33.

“For the boys, I knew that there would likely be just a few points separating second through fifth places,” said Mike Wachtmann, AHS coach. “Nobody doubted that Delta would win easily.

“We had tied Wauseon two weeks ago, so we knew we could run with them and Swanton, too. Bryan was running times close to ours as well, and that’s about the way it turned out.

“We were in the hunt and improved respectably from last year- not far off the pack for second.”

Laura Bowman was first across the finish line for AHS. She finished 48th in 24:48. Jackie Bell 64th: 26:03; Elise Sauder 67th: 26:17. Aleah Lambright, 68th: 26:32, and Amanda Storrer, 83rd: 29:33.

Wauseon’s Holly Baird won: 19:14.

“The girls all ran well, maybe not their individual bests of the season, but as a team, they ran close to their potential. I am very happy with their effort,” said Wachtmann.


Archbold runs in the Division III district meet at Ottawa Park in Ottawa, Saturday, Oct. 18.

The girls run in the District 1 race at 12:30 p.m. The boys run in the District 1 race at 1:15 p.m.
