Archbold played the nightcap of the Division III district boys soccer semifinals against Maumee Valley Country Day (13-5-1), Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Rossford.
The weather was less than desirable for the fans, but the outcome was a favorable one for the AHS faithful after watching the Streaks silence the Hawks 5-0 to advance to the district finals against Ottawa Hills.
A cold and windy evening welcomed both teams, but didn’t have any ill effects on the Blue Streaks, who came out passing and attacking from the start.
Playing against a harsh wind to start, Josh Kidder gave AHS its first goal 9:45 into the contest.
Kidder was a one-man wrecking machine, scoring his second goal with 23:17 on the clock and adding the hat trick 2:06 later for a commanding 3-0 lead to end the first half.
Archbold continued to control the flow of the game in the second half, playing with the wind and getting a pair of goals from Trey Theobald and Andrew Hogrefe.
The defense stifled MVCD and gave up minimal possession the entire game.
Kidder and Hogrefe re- corded assists while Caleb Wooley stopped the four shots that MVCD took.
