AHS Baseball Wins Three Straight

Archbold defeated Delta and Patrick Henry in Northwest Ohio Athletic League baseball action plus Edon in non-league play to improve to 10-4, 2-3 NWOAL.

AHS 10, Delta 0

The Streaks recorded a 10-0 six-inning shutout at Delta (3-10, 0-4 NWOAL), Monday, April 19.

Jayden Seiler was the winning pitcher. In five innings he allowed no runs on four hits, struck out eight, and walked one.

Archbold recorded 12 hits. Gavin Bailey hit two doubles with one run batted in. Jaybe Burkle hit a double with three RBIs. DJ Newman hit a double and a base hit; Brandon Taylor, double, one RBI; Caleb Hogrefe, double, two singles, one RBI; Devon Morris, two singles, one RBI; Jack Hurst, single.

AHS 10, Patrick Henry 6

The Streaks were back on the road, Thursday, April 22, to Patrick Henry (8-7, 2- 2 NWOAL).

Down 6-4 going into the top of the seventh, Archbold exploded for six runs and went on to a 10-6 victory.

Taylor recorded the victory on the mound. In two innings he allowed no runs on two hits, struck out one, and walked one.

Newman led AHS at the plate with a home run, triple and double, and four RBIs.

Taylor had a double and a single with two RBIs. Burkle had two singles, and Hogrefe had one.

AHS 15, Edon 5

Edon (2-15) scored five runs in the top of the second inning, but that was all for the Blue Bombers. AHS answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, seven in the third, two in the fourth, and four in the sixth for a 15-5 win in six innings, Saturday, April 24, at Memorial Park.

Seiler recorded the win. In 3 1/3 innings he allowed no runs on no hits, struck out three, and walked one.

Archbold had 16 hits. Morris led AHS at the plate with a triple, single, and an RBI.

Newman hit a double, single, and had three RBIs. Burkle had a double, single, and two RBIs.

Hurst had two singles and two RBIs; Bailey, two singles; Stephen Diller, Carson Dominique, Krayton Kern, Brayton Hobbs, one single each; Zane Behnfeldt, single, 1 RBI; Hogrefe, single, two RBIs; Seiler, one RBI.

Saturday

The Streaks are scheduled to play Ottoville at Fifth/ Third Field, the Toledo Mudhens Stadium, Saturday, May 1, at 10 am.

“This is rated as one of the top minor league facilities in the country, and is a huge thrill for our guys to be able to play a game there,” said Dick Selgo, AHS head coach.

“It gives them a small taste of what it is like to be in the major leagues for a day.”

It is the fourth time in the past 12 years that Archbold has played there.
