The Archbold baseball team closed out the regular season with an 8-1 win over Patrick Henry in Northwest Ohio Athletic League action, Tuesday, May 17.
The Streaks tied with Wauseon for second place in the league with 6-2 records. Bryan won the NWOAL title with a 7-1 record.
The day before, the Blue and Gold lost to Division II powerhouse Defiance, ranked number one in the state by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association, 12-4.
Defiance 12, AHS 4
Hosting the Bulldogs (22- 2), Monday, May 16, Archbold held a 2-1 lead after the first inning.
The Bulldogs roughed up the Streaks for six runs in the second and cruised to the 12-4 victory.
Brandon Miller (4-3) suffered the loss, giving up eight runs on four hits, striking out one, and walking six in 3 2/3 innings.
At the plate, Archbold mustered just two hits. Ben Bucklew smacked a double and recording three runs batted in.
AHS 8, PHHS 1
Archbold closed out the regular season with an 8-1 victory at Patrick Henry (11- 11, 3-5 NWOAL).
PH led 1-0 going into the third when the Streaks scored five runs.
Archbold also scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth.
Bucklew (7-0) recorded the win, giving up one run on five hits, striking out five, and walking three in seven innings.
Archbold recorded nine hits, with Bryce Williams, Toby Walker and Nic Rodriquez all notching two singles each. Williams recorded three RBIs and Walker, two.
