Archbold Community Theatre is in full rehearsal for its coming production of “Anne of Green Gables.”
The play, based on a 1908 book, tells the story of Anne Shirley, an orphan who was mistakenly sent to live with Marilla Cuthbert, a strict spinster, and Marilla’s bachelor brother, Matthew.
Marilla and Matthew’s original wish was for a boy to help on the farm. They received Anne, who has a penchant for misdemeanors.
But Anne’s imagination and passion for melodrama, along with an optimistic spirit, endear her to all those living on the island village of Avonlea, the play’s setting.
ACT will present “Anne of Green Gables,” Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25 and Oct. 1-2, at 7:30 pm. There is a 2:30 pm show, Sunday, Oct. 3.
“Anne of Green Gables” will be presented at Giffey Hall in the Ridgeville Corners Theatre District.
