ACT Presents Nuncrackers; Defiance College Performs Fiddler On The Roof

Thespians from the Archbold area appear in two productions from the Archbold Community Theatre and Defiance College.

ACT will present Nuncrackers, the third of the six plays in the Nunsense series.

In Nuncrackers, the famous Little Sisters of Hoboken are preparing for their first annual televised Christmas special. They have converted the basement of the Mount Saint Helens Convent into a cable-access television station with money Sister Mary Paul, also known as Sister Amnesia, received after winning a sweepstakes.


Archbold’s Teresa Van Sickle and Melanie Nagel play Sisters Mary Robert Anne and Mary Hubert. Together, they join Michelle Johnson, Wauseon, as Sister Amnesia, as the new Saint Andrews Sisters of Hoboken and their version of “The Three Kings.”

Gabe Short, Moriah Reichert, and Sid Ramirez, Archbold, and Bailey Short, Stryker, play students from the Mount Saint Helens School who have won the school talent contest and will have a special number for the TV special.

ACT’s Giffey Hall, in the Ridgeville Corners theatre district, will become the TV studio, Dec. 5-6-12-13-14.

Fiddler On The Roof

Defiance College’s Defiance Plays will present Fiddler on the Roof with the help of Archbold residents.

Based on a story published in Yiddish in 1894, the musical tells the tale of Tevye, a Jewish milkman with five daughters in Czarist Russia, and his attempts to keep his family together and honor his religious traditions in a changing world.

It was originally presented on the Broadway stage in 1964, and was turned into a movie in 1971.

Seth Nofziger, Archbold, plays Avarum, the bookseller. Samantha Leach, Archbold, is cast as one of the Jewish villagers in Anatevka.

Eric Yoder, Archbold, plays the role of a Russian.

DC presents Fiddler at 8 pm, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Nov. 13-14-15, and at 2 pm, Sunday, Nov. 16.
