ACT Brings Old-Fashioned Melodrama To Ridgeville Stage

Audiences will have a chance to boo and hiss at the villain and cheer for the hero in the Archbold Community Theatre production of “The Plight Before Christmas.”

Several Archbold and Archbold area actors fill out the cast of the show, which will be presented next month.

John Taquino, Archbold, plays the villain Ebeneezer Humbug, who tries to force Felicity, the heroine played by Myah Shaffer, Wauseon, into marrying him by threatening to foreclose on Aunt Fuzziwig, played by Michelle Johnson, Wauseon.

Stan Short, Archbold, plays Bob Scratchit, the hero, who must find a way to save the day. Perhaps he can count on the help of Archbold resident Jeff Patterson’s character, Sheriff Slim Dickens, and the mysterious stranger played by Phil Badenhop, Wauseon.

Sue Short, Archbold, plays Cheyenne, the proprietor of Humbug’s saloon. Others in the cast include Jan Delaney, Archbold; Shawn Liechty, Pettisville; Randy and Lindsey Rohrs, Ridgeville Corners; Kathryn Lillie, Holgate; and Bethany Collins, Pioneer.

In addition to the main show, there will be “Olios,” incidental acts and vignettes between scenes.

Steve Van Sickle, Archbold directs the production. Fairy Riter, Stryker, assists.

ACT presents “The Plight Before Christmas,” at 8 pm, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3-4, 10-11, and Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2:30 pm.
