Tinora defeated the Archbold Acme baseball team 8-5 in the opening round of the district tournament, Tuesday, July 13.
Dylan Wyse had three hits, including two doubles. Ben Miller and Michael Walker added two hits each. One of Miller’s hits was a two-run homer that put the Blue Streaks ahead in the first inning.
Tyson Dietrich suffered the loss on the mound.
Archbold bounced back in the loser’s bracket of the eight-team double-elimination tournament by nipping Montpelier 9-8, Wednesday, July 14.
Aaron Wyse ripped three hits. Tanner Wyse picked up the win on the mound in relief. B. Miller was the starting pitcher, and Dietrich came on in the last inning to get the save.
The Blue Streaks were eliminated from the tournament on Thursday, July 15, as they managed only four hits against Bryan in a 5-1 loss.
Aaron Bontrager got two of the four, belting two doubles. Other members contributing throughout the summer were Garrett Morton, Zach Driver, Kolin Schilt, David Bontrager, Jay Miller, and Jase Grosjean.
The team ended with a 13- 10 record, won the sectional championship, and finished as runners-up in the league.
