Acme Baseball



The Archbold Acme baseball team defeated Pettisville 5-1 and 7-2 in a doubleheader, Tuesday, June 11, at Pettisville.

Micah Bernath was the winning pitcher in the first game. In seven innings he allowed nine hits, walked none, and struck out five.

Jase Grosjean hit two singles, while Evan Wyse hit a single and a double.

In the nightcap, E. Wyse was the winning pitcher. In two innings he allowed three hits, walked none, and struck out none.

At the plate, Chan Wyse hit a single, and Bernath hit two doubles.

Archbold 9, Delta 3

Archbold scored five runs in the sixth inning on its way to a 9-3 defeat of Delta, Thursday, June 13.

E. Wyse was the winning pitcher. In six innings he allowed seven hits, walked two, and struck out six.

At the plate, Grosjean hit three singles.

Jacob Wagner hit two singles, and Bernath hit a single and a double.

Archbold 3, Stryker 0

Archbold scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning on its way to a 3-0 shutout of Stryker, Monday, June 17.

C. Wyse was the winning pitcher. In 1 1/3 innings he allowed no hits, walked one, and struck out four.

Matt Sevey pitched in relief.

At the plate, Sevey, Ben Bucklew, and Derek Walker each hit a single.

Wauseon 3, Archbold 2

With the score tied at 2 at the end of seven innings, Wauseon scored a run in the eighth to defeat Archbold 3-2, Tuesday, June 18, at Wauseon.

Tyson Schnitkey was the losing pitcher. In 2 1/3 innings he allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four.

Pitching in relief were C. Wyse and E. Wyse.

Sevey, Emerson Radabaugh, and Bernath each hit singles for Archbold.

Archbold 7, LC 2

Archbold (10-2) led 4-0 after one on its way to a 7- 2 defeat of Liberty Center, Thursday, June 20.

Bernath was the winning pitcher. In seven innings he allowed one hit, walked three, and struck out four.

Radabaugh had a single and a double, while Wagner hit two singles and Grosjean had a single.

Tournament

Archbold hosts the North Acme sectional tournament, Monday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 9, at Memorial Park.

It is a double-elimination tournament with the champion and runner-up both advancing to the district tournament.

Archbold plays Delta, Monday, July 1, 7:45 pm, in the first round.

The winner advances to the second round, Friday, July 5, 5:30 pm, while the loser drops to the loser’s bracket and plays Saturday, July 6, 5:30 pm.

Friday’s winner advances to the third round, Sunday, July 7, 7:45 pm.

The semifinals are Monday, July 8, 7:45 pm, and the finals are Tuesday, July 9, 7 pm.
